My Review of The Invisible Life of Addie Larue

Book Description:

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

Review (also on Goodreads):

Five-stars

I adored the setting that V.E Schwab has created. It is truly a masterpiece (not only because it is set in New York). The language is absolutely beautiful, could not get any better. The prose are heart-brokenly beautiful. You can really feel Addie’s emotions which is even more impressive when it is done in third-person. I wouldn’t consider this a ‘dark-academia’ book, but the vibes are definitely there. The bookstore, the morally gray characters, the whole concept with death. Come on!

Best book of 2020!
